The father and son team of Abe and Scott Shnay is currently developing over $500 million of projects including The Lindley (591 Third Avenue), Pod Brooklyn (626 Driggs), 363 Lafayette Street, and The Frontier (200-210 East 39th Street). SK recently completed 301 East 50th Street, 10 Bond Street, The Jefferson (211 East 13th Street) , and Chelsea 29 (221 West 29th Street). Additional projects in Manhattan and Long Island City are currently in pre-development.
Abe has been in real estate development, management and construction for over 45 years. Prior to the current slate of projects, he was a developer of The Urban Glass House (330 Spring Street), The Dance Building (219 West 19th Street – home to the Dance Theater Workshop) and The Theory Building (40 Gansevoort Street). In addition to the SK projects, Abe has built and still owns or has a controlling interest in 1,500 residential rental units throughout the New York metropolitan area. The apartment complexes are subsidized under the federal government’s Section-8 Program and have long-term rental contracts. He has also built and sold over 1,000 single-family homes in Staten Island and Queens. He has assembled and entitled various sites in Queens including a 400-unit site in Astoria and a 220 unit site in Forest Hills.
Scott has over a decade of experience acquiring sites and developing projects throughout the New York metropolitan area. He has been responsible for over 1 million square feet of development valued at over $1 Billion. Scott graduated with a B.A. in Public Policy (Urban Planning/History of Architecture) from Trinity College in 2001. He graduated from the Horace Mann School in 1997.
SK Development was a founding partner in Chelsea Hotels (formerly King & Grove), beginning with the company’s first project, Ruschmeyer’s, in Montauk, NY.
AMS Realty, an entity controlled by Abram Shnay, was formed in 1982 to develop and manage residential properties throughout the New York metropolitan area. It currently has under management 1,500 apartments that are all either completely or partially owned by the Shnay family as well as various commercial and retail properties.
AMS handles all the leasing and financial aspects of the properties as well as supervises the nearly one hundred employees consisting of managers, leasing agents, superintendents, handymen and porters.
